The details of the massive and useful infrastructure are as follows:

§  Project involves construction of the 2,000-kilometer Mindanao Railway Project (MRP) which costs about US$9 billion will kick start next year.
§  Congress is working for the provision of funding in the General Appropriation Act to be used for the acquisition of properties for the project.
§  The new railway system will link major cities of Cagayan de Oro, Iligan, Zamboanga, Butuan, Surigao, General Santos and Davao.
§  The feasibility of the project has been completed by JICA, according to the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA), and will be presented to the NEDA Investment Coordination Committee (ICC) by the third quarter of this year.

According to Alvarez, the initial phase of infrastructure implementation will initiate in 2018 adding that the first phase will construct the railway link from Davao del Sur to Davao del Norte.

In addition to this, Alvarez said the second phase will be from Davao del Norte to Butuan City, while the third phase will start from Butuan to Cagayan de Oro. The fourth phase, he noted, will be from Cagayan de Oro to Iligan and Zamboanga peninsula.

The House Speaker also mentioned that the loop from Cagayan de Oro passing Cotabato to Davao will complete the rail system in Mindanao.

Earlier, the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) reported that the feasibility study of the MRP has been completed and is set to be presented to the NEDA Investment Coordination Committee (ICC) by the third quarter this year.

Three countries namely Malaysia, Japan and China are interested to build the railway system, the NEDA stated.

Considered as one of the four major and massive railway systems which President Rodrigo Duterte promised to build, the Mindanao project will connect major cities of Cagayan de Oro, Iligan, Zamboanga, Butuan, Surigao, General Santos and Davao.

The other infrastructure projects which the Chief Executive vowed to establish are:

·       Luzon Spine Expressway Network which include the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expessway, North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), South Luzon Expressway (SLEX), STAR Toll.  Manila-Nueva Vizcaya, Manila-Sorsogon, and Manila-Batangas.
·       Mega Manila Subway Project – that will be constructed using the .Japanese tunneling expertise
·       Other railways:
o    Philippine National Railway (PNR) North Railway – connecting Manila and Clark
o    PNR South Railway – two components – one connecting Manila and Calamba and Los Banos in Laguna the other is Manila to Bicol.
o   Subic-Clark Cargo Rail – will connect Subic Port with Clark Airport to help facilitate goods and decongest ports in Manila.

The Mindanao Railway System is one of the banner programs of President Rodrigo R. Duterte and is expected to improve connectivity between the different regions. The improved plan is also projected to result to an enhancement in the level of exchange among regions in terms of goods, products, and people.

Live MLB Games Could Be Coming to FB

April 06, 2017
Facebook cascaded the news that they are in the process of developing an Apple TV application that will bear a focus on video. Moreover, after that confirmation, according to reports, Facebook is said to be in talks with the Major League Baseball (MLB) regarding prospective streaming rights to utilize the said Apple TV app.

Lee Berke, the sports media consultant, said on an interview “Facebook is aggressively going after sports content and they are now one of a number of competitors to traditional media outlets that are going after sports programming.” He also added, “It makes perfect sense that they would be going after name brand properties like the MLB.”

The discussion are actually part of Facebook’s effort to propose more live sporting content the same thing with Twitter who had National Football League (NFL) live streaming. Facebook’s idea to stream one MLB game per week during the upcoming season is parked.

The Opening Day for the MLB 2017 season is less than two months away. Yet, it is still unclear as to what games would stream via its platform.

On the other hand, the Major Baseball League has its own MLB TV streaming platform but it’s not that affordable and requires a subscription. Facebook, apparently would stream for free which are always supported by advertisements.

Facebook has pushed to sign deals with the owners of sports rights to livestream their games. It also makes sense for Facebook to be doing everything to secure additional live events. This is one key of attracting more people who are still watching live sports.

With this partnership, MLB would get contact to youthful spectators at a massive range, knowing Facebook whose scope of audience is worldwide. They have a gigantic range of consumers. This is one reason why Univision’s Mexican Soccer League Liga MX in 2017 decided to use Facebook to live stream their games.

The Facebook Apple app has no release date yet as of the moment, but to live stream an MLB game once a week is just the beginning of what has to come.

If you were to ask over this matter, how would you like to watch your MLB game? Would this new feature be beneficial to everyone considering both consumers and businessmen?

Samsung’s Android Alternative is a Security Disaster, Says Researcher

April 06, 2017
As we all know, Android is used to run all Samsung devices; however the company is trying to reduce its dependence on Google with the assistance of its own operating system. That OS is called Tizen and runs on Samsung’s smart TVs, smartwatches particularly the Gear series, as well as the minority of smartphones including the Galaxy Z series.

Samsung’s Android Alternative

Tizen has been in progress for years. It some was seen on some phones running it at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in February, where Samsung also announced the Tizen-powered Samsung Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo. Finally, Samsung has launched the world's first Tizen OS smartphone in Russia which is the Samsung Z.

Unfortunately, not all Android apps are compatible with Tizen. Only those run who get ported by either developers or SAMSUNG team. However, they do not consider like they should run as in Android. Tizen is an HTML5 OS which is something developed by Samsung called ACL (App Compatibility Layer) to run android apps.

Amihai Neiderman, a security researcher at Equus Software, has newly shared several upsetting information concerning Tizen. Although Samsung feels like enlarging its proprietary OS in the near future, one researcher said that it should be a basis for apprehension.

He also added that Samsung’s OS has as many as 40 zero-day vulnerabilities, tolerating despicable characters to slightly hack millions of smart TVs, mobile phones, and further merchandises.

Neiderman, in an interview with Motherboard, said Tizen’s code may be “the worst he’d ever seen” and that the people who wrote it “don’t have any understanding of security.” “It’s like taking an undergraduate and letting him program your software”, he added.

The weakness found in Tizen is somewhat scary because it allows hackers to take control of a Samsung device from afar, according to Neiderman. He also points out a very vital security error in the design of the TizenStore app, which hackers can use to send malevolent code to any Tizen devices.

Relatively, a lot of the Tizen code base is old and is borrowed from previous coding projects like Bada, according to Neiderman. On the other hand, most of the security holes he exposed were in the new code, which was actually written in the last two years.

Another attention-grabbing fact is that many of the security flaws are described as mistakes programmers were making twenty years ago.

The Samsung’s Tizen is judged as isn’t the safest operating system that anyone can use. Certainly, Android has its fair share of security vulnerabilities, and considering the huge scale of the Android ecosystem, even small issues could affect many users. Therefore, the scrutiny that Android endures means that vulnerabilities are identified rather quickly. Well, that might not be the case with a less popular operating system like Tizen.

List of Barangays in Metro Manila, Nearby Provinces Near Earthquake Fault

April 06, 2017

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) released the Valley Fault System Atlas (VFS) which is a collection of thorough large-scale maps that demonstrates the areas that are in close proximity to an earthquake fault.

The VFS is composed of two segments:

West Valley Faut

East Valley Fault - running through Rizal

West Valley Fault - running through Bulacan, Rizal, Metro Manila, Cavite, and Laguna.

PHIVOLCS has beforehand warned about probable impending activity from the West Valley Fault.

"We don't usually use the word ripe because the fact would indicate that the West Valley Fault can move in our lifetime simply because the last earthquake that happened from this fault, most likely the 1658 earthquake 357 years ago, and the interval of movement of the fault is roughly between 400-600 years. So that's very close," said Director Renato Solidum, Director of PHIVOCS.

The magnitude 7.8 earthquake that hit Nepal last month might be the same magnitude that the West Valley Fault could possibly generate, but according to research this could be a 7.2 magnitude; while the East Valley Fault could generate a magnitude 6.2 earthquake.

According to approximates based on previous studies conducted by PHIVOLCS in partnership with the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA), Japan International Cooperation Agency, and Geosciences Australia said that in case of a magnitude 7.2 earthquake from the West Valley the fault, a death toll cannot be avoided – 31,000 to 33,500 people could die. In this particular study, an estimated damage would cost around P1.8 to 2.3 trillion.

People from these places should be cautious and alert in cases of high-magnitude earthquakes.  This is not a joke anymore, a series of calamities have been hitting our country and it is mother nature’s way of showing us that she is real.  The question and action there would be how we are going to deal with it.
