LRT-1 Cavite Extension Construction to Start in April

With all of the infrastructural projects signed and started, Filipinos should somehow see these projects as developments to the betterment of everyone. From the common station to the Metro Manila Subway, it’s clear that these projects intend to further improve and implement better public transportation.

Since these are the shine of the news today, there’s a project that is missed out by many. However, one of the most famous projects to undertake and to start this year would be the LRT-1 Cavite extension. Based on its name, we can have the conclusion that this specific project will help citizens who commute to and from the South to have a leap in their journey.

What is the LRT-1 Cavite extension?

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) is the body of the government tasked to provide the society a better and a more efficient way of traveling via public means. As per them, this LRT-1 Cavite extension will connect the current existing railway to Bacoor, Cavite and will have a span of eleven (11) kilometers. In addiiton to that, this project will require a total of eight (8) new stations to be scattered throughout the trail.

LRT-1 is already a long journey and adding the Cavite extension would be a long road for travellers but it’s going to be a more convenient commute for people coming to and fro the South.

When is the estimated completion of the LRT-1 Cavite extension?

As per the DOTr, the estimated time of completion of the said project can be seen anytime within the fourth (4th) quarter of the year 2021. This will not only improve the means of public transportation, but it will also increase the rail line’s capacity of accommodating passengers from the current 300,000 to an astounding 800,000 per day.

Half a million more people can effectively utilize the new and improved LRT-1 with the Cavite extension. Seen as such a significant improvement, people will be more likely to patronize the railway and avoid heavy traffic along EDSA and other infamous traffic spots like Makati and Alabang.

Aside from this Cavite extension, people are also anticipating the new Metro Manila Subway which will have an adjacent route to the current LRT and MRT railways that our business districts have.
