Cebu Pacific made the announcement that they will be cancelling many flights from the 28th of April until the 30th. If you think that that’s the worst it can get, think again. In another advisory, they said that they will be cancelling more flights which can stretch out until May 10, 2019.

Last Monday, the 29th of April 2019, Cebu Pacific announced that they will cancel more flights and it’s going to last until the 10th of May 2019.

What is the reason for the cancellation of flights?

As per Cebu Pacific, these cancellations is an extensive effort in improving the performance of operations. Moreover, it is to improve on the time and in reducing the mishaps and inconvenience of the passengers.

What can the passengers do?

According to the airlines, those who are affected by the cancellation can choose from the following alternative options:

  • Get a full refund of the ticket they purchased;
  • They can reroute to and from alternate airports within thirty (30) days. This, of course, is subject to seat availability;
  • They can rebook flights for traveling within thirty (30) days or a month from the original departure date; this will be free-of-charge; and
  • Get the full cost of the ticket they bought in a Travel Fund.

As compensation, the airlines said that the passengers who experienced this cancellation will be receiving a one (1) round-trip travel voucher which they can use for their flights in the future.

We are truly sorry for the inconvenience that this has caused our passengers.”

How about for the cancellation of flights from the 28th of April until the 30th?

For this, a separate list was made by the airlines. You can find it in this list here. Cebu Pacific also said that the disruption in their flights was actually due to a few factors.

The reasons included: heavy traffic, repair and checkup of some aircraft that was damaged, and the prevention of flights landing and taking off on time.

Cebu Pacific said that they had to decrease delays in the rolling and that they had to provide passengers the chance to achieve alternate travel plans.

To create space in our schedule for operational recovery, minimize rolling delays and give passengers the chance to make alternate travel plans, we have to temporarily reduce the number of our flights given the current operating conditions, particularly in our Manila hub.”

Is there a department investigating?

As of the moment, the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) is tasked to investigate and to look at the incident. They will be thoroughly checking on the legitimacy of this incident.

Was your flight cancelled? Are you part of the demographic who had their travel delayed? Don’t worry, Cebu Pacific is giving compensation and think that it’s for the better.
