Back in June of this year, there were doubts and worries about the construction and the finalization of the Manila-Bulacan Airport or also known as the New Manila International Airport.
San Miguel Corporation President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) Ramon Ang, confirmed the status of the ever-popular New Manila International Airport; saying that the plan is pushing and operations will begin by October of this year.
Ang says that all their major projects and activities will push through even with the crisis; this includes all other infrastructure projects they plan on doing.
All our major, important projects will continue.”
In addition to that, Ramon Ang said that they’ve already gotten the approval coming from the Department of Justice (DOJ) as regards the Bulacan Airport; this was the GO signal that they’ve been waiting on.
He continued to say that their project would be deemed and considered as the “game-changer” for the country’s tourism; it’s expected to be able to accommodate 30 million tourists.
At tayo naman sa San Miguel, tuluy-tuloy ang ating investment to build infrastructure projects. In fact, nakuha na namin ‘yung approval or review ng DOJ [Department of Justice] doon sa Bulacan Airport. At ‘yung Bulacan Airport, tinitingnan lang namin ‘yung araw for the signing of the financial closure with the financer banks. So tuloy na rin ‘yan within the next two to three months, ‘yung Bulacan Airport, groundbreaking na rin.”
In Translation: We here at San Miguel will be continuing our investments to build infrastructure projects. In fact, we were already able to get the approval or the review of the DOJ regarding the Bulacan Airport. What we’re looking at right now is the day of the signing of the financial closure with financer banks. The completion of this project would be within the next two (2) to three (3) months; this Bulacan Airport, it’s also going to be groundbreaking.
To Alleviate Traffic in the Metro
The main purpose of the construction of the famous New Manila International Airport is to decongest and alleviate the overcapacity experienced by the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
With the infamous traffic, many tourists and even locals find it hard and difficult to navigate around the area of NAIA.
However, with the New Manila International Airport in check, it will be capable of accommodating about 100 million to 200 million passengers on an annual basis.
In case you’re not in the know, the airport being built would have four (4) parallel runways for faster and easier flight processing. In addition to that, it has am 8.4-kilometer tollway that connects the main airport to the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) which is in Marilao, Bulacan.
The current project involves everything needed to construct the airport; from the construction, main operation, as well as the maintenance of the Bulacan Airport in the 2,500-hectare land.
Aside from the Manila-Bulacan International Airport project by the SMC, Ramon Ang also mentioned the construction and the completion of projects such as major railways and expressways, as well as manufacturing facilities in different regions in the country.
He adds that even before the pandemic, they believed that they will be able to complete the projects that they’ve set in place. These projects would be what’ll boost the economy of the country.
Before the pandemic, and even more so now, we believe these projects will be key to making more Filipinos resilient, by providing jobs and boosting local economies, which in turn, will provide livelihood opportunities.”
Boosting the Country’s Economy
Ang continued to say that all of the projects in place would be for the benefit of the country. More and more jobs will be available to the Filipino people and that employment would see a sudden turnaround from the grim we’re experiencing now.
With more manufacturing facilities in key regions that provide direct jobs and downstream employment, infrastructure that increases mobility and ease of trade, and sufficient and reliable access to power and fuel, we hope to help our economy through this crisis and boost our nation’s recovery.”
With the construction of the New Manila International Airport starting in October of this year; what are your thoughts about it? How about the other projects that the SMC plans on taking? Do you think that this will be effective in the times we are in now?
The SMC is one of the corporations and organizations who performed a whole lot of assistance to our countrymen during the pandemic. They’re among the corporations and the organizations that helped people out.
