5.4 Magnitude Earthquake Rocks Batangas, Metro Manila

A magnitude 5.4 earthquake rocked Batangas on Tuesday evening, April 4, and the tremor was felt in parts of Metro Manila and South Luzon.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) Director Renato Solidum reported on their website, that the temblor hit 7km northwest of Tingloy town and was considered the epicenter of the quak which struck at around 8:58 P.M. at the depth of three kilometers.

The US Geological Survey measured the quake at magnitude 5.2.

The quake was felt in various parts of Metro Manila and nearby provinces.

Intensity 4 was felt in Makati City and in Obando, Bulacan; intensity 3 was felt in Mandaluyong City, Quezon City, Santa Ana in Manila; Lucena City in Quezon province; and General Trias and Dasmariñas in Cavite.
