The Manila Electric Company (MERALCO) announced that there will be little power interruptions to occur in the following regions in Luzon: Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Metro Manila, and Rizal. MERALCO said that this will be happening this week.
What are reasons for these interruptions?
As per MERALCO, they’re having maintenance works and technical updates to further enhance the experience and to minimize similar problems like this in the future.

As we all know, even technology and these businesses don’t have full control of how the energy and the weather will be like. These regions will be targeted because these are where their works will take place.
In turn, there will be service and power interruptions which will be experienced by some regions in the Philippines, specifically the island of Luzon.
What certain locations will be affected?
Bulacan
The following municipalities/cities will be affected:
- Hagonoy
- Malolos City
- Paombong
- Plaridel
When will the service interruption take place?
As per MERALCO, these municipalities will experience power interruptions on the 19th of April to the 20th (Friday to Saturday).
From 4:00 A.M. on the Friday (19th of April) to 5:00 A.M. and between 7:00 A.M. to 8:00 A.M. on Saturday (20th of April 2019).
A part of P. Mabini St. and Gov. Padilla Avenue from MERALCO–Malolos substation in Barangay Santisimo Trinidad, Malolos City to Vergel De Dois St.
Also, Doña Crispina Subdivisian, Mary Grace Village, Sta. Monica Park Subdivision; A.C. Reyes, De Castro, J. Garcia and Javier Streets; Barangays Agnaya, Poblacion, Banga 1, Sto Niño, Purok(s) 1, 2, 4, and 5, Diamante St, Siti Pulo, and Barangays Santisima Trinidad and Barihan in Malolos City.
In addition to that, parts of Sipat Barangay Road from Cristina Ville Subdivision to Plaridel Airport Road; Purok(s) 1, 2, 3, 4, and 7; Barangays Sipat, Dampol, and Lumang Bayan in Plaridel.
Between 5:00 A.M. on the Friday (19th of April) to 7:00 A.M. and between 5:00 A.M. to 8:00 A.M. on Saturday (20th of April 2019).
Parts of Iba O’ Este and Palapat Roads from Barangay Sta. Monica to Barangay San Isidro in Paombong; Barangays Sto Niño, San Nicolas, Hangas, and Marilao in Hagonoy.

Between 4:00 A.M. on the Friday (19th of April) to 5:00 A.M. and between 8:00 A.M. to 9:00 A.M. on Saturday (20th of April 2019).
Certain parts of P. Mabini St. and Gov. Padilla Ave. from Meralco – Malolos substation in Bgy. Maintenance reason: The main reason would be testing works inside MERALCO in Calumpit substation.
Cavite
When will the service interruption take place?
As per MERALCO, these municipalities will experience power interruptions on the 18th of April 2019.
Between 2:30 A.M. on the Thursday (18th of April) to 3:00 A.M. and between 10:00 A.M. to 10:30 A.M.
Parts of Antero Soriano Highway from Meralco – Tanza Substation up until Villa Juanita and Deco Homes Tanza in Barangays Amaya 2, Halayhay, and Sahud Ulan.
Also, certain areas in Remulla Blvd from Antero Soriano Highway including Duraville Subdivision, Springville View Subdivision, Glowingfields Subdivision, Summercrest Subdivision, and Greenvile Homes; El Sorento Clubhouse, and Amaya School of Home Industries in Barangay Sahud Ulan.
Maintenance reason: Because of maintenance works inside Meralco in Tanza substation.
Laguna
When will the service interruption take place?
As per MERALCO, these municipalities will experience power interruptions on the 16th of April to the 17th of April, 2019.
Between 11:00 P.M. on Tuesday (16th of April) to 4:00 A.M. of the following Wednesday (17th of April).
Parts of St. Francis Homes I subdivision in Newton Heights in San Francisco Road in Barangay San Francisco.
Maintenance reason: Because of facility upgrades in San Francisco Road in Barangay San Francisco, Biñan City, Laguna.
Makati City (Pinagkaisahan)
When will the service interruption take place?
As per MERALCO, these municipalities will experience power interruptions on the 17th of April 2019 (Wednesday)
Between 9:30 A.M. and 2:30 P.M. on the 17th of April 2019 (Wednesday).
In Agutaya St. from Epifanio Delos Santos Ave. (EDSA) until Belleza St.
Maintenance reason: Because of reconduction works in Agutaya street in Barangay Pinagkaisahan, Makati City.
Rizal (Angono and Taytay)
When will the service interruption take place?
As per MERALCO, these municipalities will experience power interruptions on the 16th of April 2019 (Wednesday) to the 17th of April 2019.
Between 11:00 P.M. of Tuesday (April 16, 2019) and 4:00 A.M. on the 17th of April 2019 (Wednesday).
Certain parts of Italia and Italia Ext. streets from Rizal Avenue in San Francisco Village to Jose Ramos St. in Barangay Muzon, Taytay, Rizal.

In addition, some locations in G. Borja Ave. from Rizal Ave. until Ciudad Grande Subdibision Phases 1 and 2; Narra, Lagundi, Tomas Mag-Atas, and San Miguel in San Miguel Subdivision in Barangay Muzon, Taytay, Rizal.
Aurora Ave. from Quezon Ave. until and including Aurora Subdivision and Sunstrip Green Village Subdivision in Angono; Mercedes Homes I subdivision and Doña Aurora Subdivision in Barangay san Isidro; Homeland Happy Homes, Upper Banner Subdivision in Barangay Muzon, Taytay.
Maintenance reason: Line maintenance works in roads in Barangay Muzon, Taytay, Rizal province.
What can residents who are affected do?
Even if these interruptions will only take place for a few hours, it’s still something which can cause inconvenience to some. So, to be able to make the most out of these interruptions, anticipate the outage.
So, the company advises residents and consumers affected to prepare for the outage in the best ways possible. First and foremost, they should charge and prepare all devices for emergency cases.
Another is to prepare all appliances and electronic devices that would be dangerous if electricity goes out suddenly.
Last but not the least is to make sure that everyone is safe. Most of the interruptions will take place in the morning. The real danger is that this outage will conspire with the heat that we are currently experiencing so being extra cautious won’t actually hurt.

It’s only going to run for a few hours so don’t worry and don’t panic. What’s better for you is to prepare for it; remember, these upgrades and maintenance works is for the betterment of the service to provide premium service to customers; it’s not something they’re doing for them to receive more.
