School teachers are one of the foundations of good education. As a matter of fact, they’re noble jobs and usually get gratitude of debt when a student becomes successful. But not a lot of Filipino aspire to become teachers. Why? Because of the fact that salaries of school teachers aren’t as high as some jobs in the country.
But public school teachers, although they don’t earn that high, have a good amount of return when the pensions come. Are you interested in becoming a public school teacher? Good news for you! The government is looking for 33,000 public school teachers this year.
The Department of Education (DepEd) UnderSecretary, Anne Sevilla, said that their department is looking to employ 33,000 public school teachers this year.
OPLAN Balik Eskwela (OBE)
The OPLAN Balik Eskwela, is the provision of the government that promotes schooling to the public. When the OPLAN Balik Eskwela was launched, Sevilla said that there were 10,000 new teaching positions available for employment.
In addition to that, 23,000 other vacancies were opened for teaching vacancies—to add to the 10,000 teaching posts.
We have 10,000 new positions in 2019. Hindi ‘to kaagad naaprubahan dahil hinintay natin yung 2019 GAA [General Appropriations Act].”
In Translation: We currently have 10,000 new positions in this year (2019). It wasn’t approved immediately because they were waiting for the General Appropriations Act (GAA) in the year 2019.
Sevilla added that they received a message from the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) that this can already be started even if the requirements are not complete—so long that the teachers to fill up these posts are met.
However, we were informed by DBM [Department of Budget and Management] na pwede na itong umpisahan. We’re just looking for the documentation. But kahit wala pa yung documentation naguumpisa na ang DepEd para hanapin itong mga guro na ito.”
In Translation: However, we were informed by the DBM that it can be started; that the DepEd was just looking for the appropriate documentation. But even if no documentation is presented yet, DepEd is starting to look for people who can fill up these posts.
Are teachers the only positions the DepEd is looking for?
Sevilla said that just like their journey in finding and building schools and classrooms, they’ve also accumulated and created posts that are still vacant as of today so anyone who is willing to be part of the public sector in the field of education is invited to apply! You just have to submit the requirements that DepEd will be issuing very soon.
Kagaya ng school building and classroom, may accumulated din tayo na mga positions na nacreate pero bakante pa hanggang ngayon. We have 23,000, those accumulated vacant positions plus 10,000 this year, so we are expecting about 33,000 new teachers this year.”
There were also volume in the number of examinees who were able to pass the most recent Licensure Examinations for Teachers (LET). Therefore, these people are eligible to work in the education field because they are now licensed and capable of doing so.
Being a public school teacher, although the salary won’t give you a fortune, has its benefits because of the fact that they’re working for the government. One of which is the pension that it has when the public school teacher retires.
Are you looking to be a part of the education industry? Or do you aspire to be a worker of the government service or the public sector? If your answer to those questions is yes, then this is the chance you’ve been waiting for! The DepEd announced that they are in dire need of at least 33,000 public school teachers and it’s currently open for everyone who is looking for a job as a teacher!
