Hotel rooms in space has been one of the biggest fantasies and dreams that people have. Due to this, The Orbital Assembly Corporation (OAC), a space construction company shard a couple of snaps and photos about their plans of establishing and constructing the very first space hotel.
As per the company, they’re looking to start construction of the said space hotel in 2026.
Who the Orbital Assembly Corporation (OAC) Is
The Orbital Assembly Corporation or the OAC for short is a space construction company composed of NASA and space veterans. They’re the world’s first space construction company providing machines and equipment that are tele-operated.
In addition to that, they’ll be the organization that would build and establish the very first space station that’s rotating.
The World’s First Space Hotel
Dubbed and labeled as the Voyager Station, the Voyager station is known and deemed to be the world’s very first hotel that would be out-of-this-world – both metaphorically and literally.
John Blincow, head of the Gateway Foundation, the conglomerate that founded the OAC, said that they’re working hard to make people realize that our age is the golden age. Moreover, it’s also the time where innovation is coming fast and urgently.
We’re trying to make the public realize that this golden age of space travel is just around the corner. It’s coming. It’s coming fast.”
Space Hotel’s Features and Functionalities
Here are some of the most notable and most recognizable features and functionalities of the Voyager Station or the world’s first space hotel.
The hotel will be able to accommodate and cater to up to 280 guests. That means, you can take your whole family to the hotel and enjoy the view from above!
Apart from the hotel, you’ll also be able to enjoy other amenities and features, including:
Furthermore, the hotel will have an artificial ring-shaped gravity to keep tourists and guests from floating away to space.
To give you a brief overview of how the Voyager Station looks like, it’s shaped just like a Ferris Wheel that utilizes centrifugal force. It’s like this so that it can effectively stimulate moon-like gravity.
From the very beginning, the world’s very first space hotel is engineered to be able to accommodate national space agencies, business, tourism, and manufacturing.
Parts and Components of the Voyager Station
To help you understand how the Voyager Station works, it’s comprised of three (3) main components and parts:
The Habitation ring will be placed and positioned before the ORT and is connected via pressurized modules.
Each of these modules will have 1,809.5 m3 with two (2) to three (3) internal levels.
In addition to that, they’ll also have:
- Gymnasium and Assembly Module
- Crew Quarters
- Private-Owned Modules For Commercial Activity, Hotels, and Villas
- Kitchen, Restaurant, and Bar (KRB)
- Air Water Power (AWP) Module
- Government-Owned Modules
Outer Ring Truss (ORT)
The Outer Ring Truss or the ORT will be the 2nd infrastructure that’s built after the Docking Hub or the Inner Ring.
It is composed of an unpressurized ring truss that is triangular in shape that’s supported by a web of network spokes to the Hub.
In the hub is an Access Tube that allows guests and people to move to the different parts of the station with freedom.
The ORT is and will be considered as the backbone and the spinal cord of the station.
Docking Hub (Inner Ring)
The Docking Hub or the inner ring is going to be the first (1st) piece of the Voyager to be built. It has a ring that doesn’t have pressure with stabilizers and docking arms that’s made to capture and lock.
In the beginning, there will be just one docking port. but as the construction pushes through, another one would be added.
How Much Would Your Stay Be?
According to the Travel + Leisure, a world-renowned website, a three-day stay at the Voyager Station will cost about $5 million.
In addition to that, if you’re looking to stay at the hotel, you’ll need to undergo training as you’d need to travel using the SpaceX Starship shuttle to start and to get to the hotel.
